What makes a piece of content worth consuming?

Content is worth consuming when the reader gets something meaningful in exchange for attention.

That value can be practical: a clearer decision, a useful method, a shortcut, a warning

That value can be practical: a clearer decision, a useful method, a shortcut, a warning. It can be intellectual: a new distinction, explanation or point of view. It can be emotional: recognition, relief, amusement, language for something they have felt but not named.

The weakest content often contains information without consequence. It is technically correct but nothing changes after reading it.

Ask one question before publishing: what is different for the person after this? Do they understand something better? Notice something they were missing? Know what to do next? Feel seen in a precise way?

Content does not have to be long or revolutionary. It just needs to earn the time it asks for.
