Is organic social dead?

No.
What's dead is the version people are nostalgic for, where you posted regularly and reach was basically free. That's gone, because there's far more content and the same amount of attention.
But organic still works, and here's why. Every platform still needs content people actually stop for. That's the whole product. So the platforms aren't suppressing good content, they're suppressing forgettable content, and there's a lot more of that than there used to be.
What's actually changed:
At a glance
3 parts
- Reach follows the post, not the account
- Which means anyone can break through on any given day
- And it means consistency alone doesn't work anymore
- 1Reach follows the post, not the account. Your follower count matters much less than whether this particular thing holds attention.
- 2Which means anyone can break through on any given day. That's better for small accounts, not worse.
- 3And it means consistency alone doesn't work anymore. Posting five times a week says nothing if none of it is worth stopping for.
So it's not dead. It's just no longer a numbers game, and people who were winning on volume are the ones saying it's dead.
