How do I find my target audience when I think my product is for everyone?

If it's for everyone, it's for nobody, and you'll spend your whole budget finding that out.
In short
3 key points
- 01Start with who's already buying, if anyone is
- 02If nobody's buying yet, ask who has this problem most painfully and most often, and who has money
- 03Because narrowing doesn't shrink your market, it makes your message land hard enough to get any of it
Start with who's already buying, if anyone is. Not who you hoped. Who actually paid. Look for what those people have in common, and it's rarely demographic. It's usually a situation. Something happening in their business or their life that made them go looking.
If nobody's buying yet, ask who has this problem most painfully and most often, and who has money.
Then pick one. Not forever. Just first.
Because narrowing doesn't shrink your market, it makes your message land hard enough to get any of it. You can always widen after something works. You cannot widen from zero.
