What does a launch actually look like, start to finish?

A serious launch starts much earlier than launch week. For a substantial product, service or company initiative, I would normally think in terms of roughly six months of preparation, not a few frantic weeks of announcements.

The process
5 steps
  1. 01
Around six to three months out
  2. 02
Around three to one month out
  3. 03
    The final month

    Launch window
  5. 05
Months one to six after launch

Around six to three months out. understand the buyer, validate the problem, define the positioning and offer, decide what success means, and install revenue-linked tracking. This is where customer research, messaging and launch strategy are built.

Around three to one month out. build the sales page, email flows, content, partner materials, tracking links, onboarding and payment path. Confirm partners and test the full customer journey.

The final month. start warming the audience around the problem and the change you are creating. The announcement should land in a market that already understands why it matters.

Launch window. concentrate attention. Founder visibility, partners, content, email, PR and paid distribution should support one another. Watch behavior live, not just revenue.

Months one to six after launch. keep selling. Follow the messages and channels that proved themselves, nurture non-buyers, onboard buyers well and continue studying behavior.

A launch is not an announcement. It is a commercial period with a before, a concentrated moment and a long after.
