How do I know when to kill a product entirely?
Efri · 1 min readYou need to see enough to make the call, and most people can't, because they never tracked anything.
What you'd need to see:
The process
5 steps
- 01Did enough of the right people genuinely reach it
- 02Did people who understood it still not want it
- 03Do the buyers actually use it
- 04Have you tried it more than one way
- 05Is it flat or falling
- 1Did enough of the right people genuinely reach it. If not, you're not killing a product. You're killing something you never tested.
- 2Did people who understood it still not want it. Not "nobody bought." People who got it, matched your buyer, could afford it, and walked.
- 3Do the buyers actually use it. A few who genuinely use it is a distribution problem. Buyers who bought once and vanished is a dead product.
- 4Have you tried it more than one way. One version isn't a test.
- 5Is it flat or falling. Flat and low is different from declining after a real push.
Can't answer those? Don't kill anything. Set up the tracking, run it once more properly, then decide.
