How do I write bullet points that show impact?

Write what changed because you were there. That's the whole test.

Key points
4 key points
  • Most CVs list activities
  • The shape that works: what you did, what it produced, and how you know
  • "Rebuilt the onboarding sequence, which cut first-month drop-off by a third."
  • If you genuinely can't attach a result, attach a scale, a before and after, or a thing that still exists because of you

Most CVs list activities. "Responsible for managing social media accounts." That tells me what you were near, not what you did.

The shape that works: what you did, what it produced, and how you know.

"Rebuilt the onboarding sequence, which cut first-month drop-off by a third." "Took over a failing account and kept it, worth £200k a year." "Built the reporting the whole team now uses to plan their week."

Things to cut:

Responsible for. Says nothing. You were assigned it, not that you did anything with it. Helped with. Then say what you did. Adjectives. Successfully, effectively, efficiently. All noise. Duties nobody needs listed. Everyone in your role did those.

If you genuinely can't attach a result, attach a scale, a before and after, or a thing that still exists because of you. Anything is better than a job description with your name on it.
